Nerve conduction velocity studies

A nerve conduction velocity (NCV) study measures nerve function by testing the speed of signals through nerves. Any neuropsychological disturbance will be detected using a small amount of electrical stimulation applied to a patient’s arms and legs. The test may also be used to evaluate diseases of nerves or muscles. An NCV test shows the condition of the best surviving nerve fibers.
