Helping Podiatrists Provide Better Care

Frontera’s in-office diagnostic testing services are useful tools that will assist you in accurately identifying if a patient has a neurological or circulatory impairment. Our standard protocol is to combine a Lower Arterial Scan/Lower Venous, an Ankle-Brachial Index and a Nerve Conduction Velocity Study. Combining these tests increases the sensitivity and allows for a more accurate assessment of the patient’s condition.

Lower Arterial + ABI

The Lower Arterial Ultrasound is a non-invasive ultrasound study that evaluates arterial blood flow in the legs aiding in the detection of peripheral artery disease. An Ankle-Brachial Index measurement is included in the Lower Arterial protocol to increase the sensitivity of the Doppler findings.

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Studies

An NCV measures nerve function by testing the speed of signals through nerves. Any neuropsychological disturbance will be detected using a small amount of electrical stimulation applied to a patient’s legs.
